Now welcoming new clients. Take your first step today!
We believe high-quality care should be as accessible as possible. Our session rates are set well below the Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended rate (currently $330 per standard session) to help lower out-of-pocket costs for our community.
We believe support should be accessible. If our rates are a barrier, please contact us before your first session to confidentially discuss fee adjustments or alternative pathways.
Many private health funds provide a rebate for psychology services, separate from Medicare. The amount depends on your fund and level of cover. Please check with your insurer before your appointment. Private health and Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for the same session.
If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $101.55 per session (registered psychologist, item 80110 / 91170 for telehealth). Your estimated out-of-pocket gap will be::
Initial Psychology Session: approximately $158.45
Subsequent Psychology Session: approximately $128.45
Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year.
Your GP will need to review and renew your referral after the first 6 sessions. Payment is required in full on the day of your session, with your Medicare rebate processed and returned to your nominated bank account.
Eligible DVA Gold Card and White Card holders pay no gap. A valid GP DVA referral is required. Shane bills DVA directly — there is no out-of-pocket cost to you. See our FAQs for further details.
Fees for assessment packages, report writing, and delivery are available on application. Please contact the practice to discuss your specific needs.
Payment is due in full on the day of your session. Galaxy Wellbeing accepts:
Visa or Mastercard (credit or debit)
Direct deposit / bank transfer (by prior arrangement — payment must be received before your appointment)
Cash and American Express are not accepted. There are no card surcharges.
Your appointment time is reserved for you. Short-notice cancellations and non-attendances cannot easily be offered to someone else.
Please provide a minimum of 2 business days' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule:
Cancellations with 2 or more business days' notice: no charge
Cancellations with less than 2 business days notice: full session fee charged
Non-attendance without notice: full session fee charged
Cancellation fees are not eligible for Medicare rebates or DVA funding. Any outstanding cancellation fee must be settled before your next appointment can be booked.
We understand that genuine emergencies occur. If you need to cancel at short notice due to an unforeseen circumstance, please contact us as soon as possible. Whether the fee is waived is at the practice's discretion and depends on the situation and how promptly we are notified.
Business days are Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. If your appointment falls on a Monday, please notify us by your appointment time the preceding Thursday.
